KAL HO NA HO

Rain-the damn thing. Hi I am Ajay back after a long time. I am here being halted in the side of a road because of rain . But I am not isolated. People accompanied me here ; ranting and raving about their discomfort attributed to the down pour. I managed to notice a little girl , should be five years old I intuit, who stood beside me with her mother ,who was busy speaking over her phone. She held her child’s arm firmly with her other hand. But the little girl seemed to be enjoying the rain, extending her free arm trying to hold rain drops.
“Mom why cant we just run through the rain”, the little girl enquired her mom innocently.
“No honey. You may get cold”,her mother replied .
“Mom but I want to get drenched ,its very fun to do that”,the little girl added adamantly.
“No not today. Tomorrow you can do that”,her mother retorted back just to pacify her daughter.
“But rain” the girl paused “Tomorrow may not come”.
Tomorrow may not come!!. Tomorrow may not come!!.
This reminded me the movie “Kal Ho Na Ho”. What a classic it was. Not very often we come across movies and books that remind us of the gift we all posses this very moment. The gift called ‘life’. The theme of the movie , which to me, is ‘live your life today because KAL HO NA HO (tomorrow may never come).
What is life without happiness? And where is happiness without love?Have we forgotten to be happy and to love or to paraphrase it , have we forgot to live. How many of you reading this article truly and sincerely believe that you live your life. Recollect your life for the past 24 hours. Think of the opportunities you missed to be happy and to love. Think how many times you have pushed yourself into a drab mode of living. Love and happiness are ubiquitous. They are abundant but we postpone them for a tomorrow, but Kal ho na ho.
We beget happiness only by giving it. It is scientifically evident that people who are happy smile a lot ; it is also equally true that people who smile a lot flourish with happiness. Present everyone you meet with a pleasant smile , it costs nothing but earns you a lot. Smile today because kal ho na ho.
Do we really propose our love to people who earned it. Do we express our love to our parents, our friends, our neighbours, our spouse, our children etc. How much effort does it really take to tell some one “I love you” [Don’t try it with strangers who impressed you with their looks ]
Speak your love today, because kal ho na ho.
Are we really doing what our heart yearns for? How many times we have traded our desires and happiness for material needs. The most pathetic thing in life is when people ‘give up living to live’. Think about it. Delaying gratification could be wise but putting off living is a vice against the virtue called life. Do the things that you want to do right now, this day because kal ho na ho.
A sweet voice disturbed my thoughts and pulled me back to the place where I was standing.
“Anna why you are not walking through the rain. Your mom is not here na?”,the little angel spoke with a cuteness I really admired.
Yes .. Yes .. Why I am not…? I questioned myself. I knelt down to her height “Hmmm thank you dear” I touched her head softly and stood up.
I walked through the rain enjoying the natural shower which I deserve to enjoy. I told to myself “I am doing this today because KAL HO NA HO”!!!!!!!.
